Adidas sues White Fox over four-stripe clothing design in Australia

Adidas says it has trademarked its three-stripe logo in Australia since 1957 and argues White Fox has sold and advertised four equal-width parallel stripes since at least March.

Adidas has filed a lawsuit in Australia against the Sydney-based label White Fox, alleging the retailer sells and promotes clothing with a four-striped design that is deceptively similar to the German sportswear brand's three-stripe logo.

According to filings submitted in the Federal Court of Australia, Adidas says it repeatedly asked White Fox to stop selling and advertising the products since March, but the fast-fashion online retailer refused.

Adidas argues its three-stripe design has a substantial and valuable reputation in Australia and that White Fox's four parallel stripes of equal width infringed the Adidas trademark, which the company says has been registered since 1957.

Both sides' Australian law firms declined to comment on the case, with the first hearing scheduled to begin on Friday.
