Banks and credit unions move toward Bitcoin-backed lending

An interview with SALT Lending CEO Shawn Owen says barriers to Bitcoin adoption for banks and registered investment advisors have eased, supporting use of Bitcoin as collateral.

Bitcoin Magazine reports that banks and credit unions are racing to adopt Bitcoin, with SALT Lending CEO Shawn Owen saying FOMO is “real.”

In the interview, Owen argues that Bitcoin can function as “pristine collateral” for banks and wealth advisors, and he frames the trend as part of Bitcoin’s first institutional cycle.

The discussion also highlights efforts to address barriers that previously limited adoption by banks and registered investment advisors.

Bitcoin Magazine includes chapter markers focused on Owen’s views on Bitcoin volatility, loan-to-value, and why institutions can no longer ignore Bitcoin.
