Cooke Residential builds a decades-long succession plan with new leadership
The Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill real estate firm, operating under its own brand since 2014, is shifting toward shared leadership with Allison Zimmerman as broker in charge and co-owner.
HousingWire profiles how Lucia Cooke and her daughter, Allison Zimmerman, built a succession plan over decades for Cooke Residential, a Raleigh-Durham real estate firm with about $32 million in 2025 volume.
The outlet says Zimmerman now serves as broker in charge and co-owner, and the firm is moving toward a shared leadership structure for its transition.
According to HousingWire, the plan relied on trust, education, and shared institutional knowledge, including input from the late Cecil Cooke Jr.
The report adds that the leadership change was not a last-minute decision, with Zimmerman preparing for the role since entering real estate.
