Brent crude falls as Trump pledges pause on Iran attacks

Brent was down 1.3% and diesel prices eased below £2 per litre as the market priced in reduced near term risk.

Oil prices eased on Friday, with Brent crude falling as President Donald Trump pledged not to attack Iran ahead of the US midterm elections in November, according to the Guardian Economics. Diesel prices also moved lower, with diesel falling below £2 per litre as the broader energy complex softened.

The Guardian Economics also noted that China restarted fuel exports, adding to the supply picture that weighed on prices. In its round up of key events, it cited Brent crude as down 1.3% on the day.

Separately, the same coverage referenced other news items, including a denial from Snowflake about an Asos breach being caused by a platform flaw and trading updates for Airtel Money shares on the London Stock Exchange.
