Hong Kong reports 21 mpox cases since August, health officials urge vaccination

The latest case involved a 29-year-old man and brought Hong Kong’s year total to 30, split between 23 local and 7 imported infections.

Hong Kong has recorded 21 mpox cases since August, which the Centre for Health Protection said account for 70 percent of this year’s total, prompting renewed public health messaging about prevention and vaccination.

According to SCMP Economy, the latest case involved a 29-year-old man and raised Hong Kong’s overall total to 30 this year, including 23 local cases and seven imported ones.

The health authority said epidemiological investigations found that all 21 patients reported engaging in high-risk sexual behaviour during the incubation period, including sex with male strangers or multiple partners and sex without a condom.
