Etude launches technology-driven excess and surplus insurer
Etude Specialty is domiciled in Nebraska and plans to write business in all 50 states, backed by more than $100 million of surplus.
Etude has announced the launch of Etude Specialty Insurance Company, a technology-driven excess and surplus carrier focused on commercial property and casualty coverage. Coverager reports the new insurer is domiciled in Nebraska and will write in all 50 states.
The company said Etude Specialty has more than $100 million of surplus. Coverager also reported that the insurer named Daniel Rossen president.
Rossen has more than 30 years of experience in specialty and excess and surplus insurance, including leading Maxum Specialty’s property and E&S binding business at The Hartford, launching a commercial multi-peril unit at ICW Group, and serving as head of property at Origin Specialty Underwriters, according to Coverager.
Steven Stein, Etude Specialty’s founder and CEO, is also the founder and CEO of SafeLease, which provides tenant protection and insurance for the self-storage industry. In remarks carried by Coverager, Rossen highlighted that the company’s capital is intended to be permanent, positioning the carrier as built for long-term market cycles.
