Harbor raises $10M seed funding to insure AI-agent risk

The company says it helps firms assess operational, security, and regulatory risks of AI agents, and it targets coverage gaps as insurers exclude AI from some existing policies.

Insurance Journal reports that Harbor, a San Francisco-based company, has emerged from stealth with $10 million in seed funding from Base10 Partners, Abstract and 8VC.

Harbor says it helps companies measure and mitigate operational, security, and regulatory risks from deploying AI agents, and that it provides insurance if an agent fails or causes a loss.

According to the outlet, Harbor works with banks, insurers and other regulated companies across the United States, Europe and Latin America, arguing that traditional coverage focused on single employee mistakes does not fit AI agents that can repeat errors thousands of times.

Insurance Journal adds that Harbor said insurers lack claims history to price AI-agent risk, leading some insurers to exclude AI from existing policies, while co-founder Jesús Santos said companies need real-time risk management as adoption and development move quickly.
