Hot Chili extends shallow copper-gold intersections at Chile project

The new hole returned 188 metres grading 0.44% copper and 0.16 gram gold per tonne from 24 metres depth, supporting plans to feed Costa Fuego’s planned processing plant.

Mining.com reports Hot Chili’s new drilling extended shallow copper-gold mineralization at its La Verde porphyry discovery in coastal Chile, strengthening the case that the deposit could supply ore to the nearby Costa Fuego project.

According to the report, hole DKP075 lengthens a previously reported partial intersection to 188 metres grading 0.44% copper and 0.16 gram gold per tonne from 24 metres depth, and also intersected 29 metres grading 0.39% copper and 0.15 gram gold from 304 metres to the end of the hole.

Hot Chili said it has completed more than 35,000 metres of drilling at La Verde and is targeting an initial resource by Dec. 31, with management aiming to use La Verde ore to feed a planned processing plant for Costa Fuego to cut costs.

Both projects are located in Chile’s Atacama region, about 600 km north of Santiago, and Hot Chili said a coherent, higher-grade near-surface zone could support low-strip-ratio open-pit mining in Costa Fuego’s early years of a 20-year mine plan.
