Southern Dallas County developers push new mixed-use projects
Bisnow says a $1B University Hills mixed-use development near the University of North Texas at Dallas is aimed at shifting perceptions about the area’s ability to support new development.
Southern Dallas County, Texas is attracting multiple commercial and residential projects, with developers and local groups aiming to spur growth in an area they say has been historically underserved, according to Bisnow.
Bisnow highlighted Hoque Global's $1B University Hills mixed-use development next to the University of North Texas at Dallas as an example meant to change perceptions of southern Dallas as unable to support new development.
Developers and city officials in places such as Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville, and Lancaster are also working to attract additional projects to support ongoing economic development, Bisnow reported.
At Bisnow's Future of Southern Dallas County event in Cedar Hill, Stewarding Space founder Michaella Ramler said a downtown Lancaster project helped change the perception of the city overnight, and Bisnow said Stewarding Space helped spark a mixed-use revival in Lancaster’s nearly 150-year-old downtown area.
