Tokio Marine joins The Phage Series A financing and alliance

The Phage said the first close of its Series A raised ¥570 million, and the company is partnering with Tokio Marine Holdings to commercialize preventive care services across the insurance group.

Tokyo-based health technology startup The Phage announced it secured ¥570 million in equity and debt financing in the first close of its Series A round, according to Coverager.

Itochu Technology Ventures led the round, with Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance and Fukui Capital Partners joining as new shareholders, while existing investors Genesia Ventures and Vision Incubate also participated. Shoko Chukin Bank provided the debt financing.

Founded in 2021, The Phage develops AI that analyzes blood glucose data to support personalized preventive care, including its Glucose Flight platform that helps users connect food and lifestyle habits to blood sugar and receive tailored nutritional guidance.

Alongside the financing, The Phage signed a capital and business alliance with Tokio Marine Holdings to explore commercializing healthcare solutions across the insurance group, including services aimed at preventing lifestyle-related diseases from worsening.
