Mogotes expands Albor copper-gold target at Filo Sur project
The latest drill hole returned 180 metres grading 0.51% copper and 0.37 gram gold per tonne, as Mogotes plans about 7,000 metres of drilling at Filo Sur this year.
Mogotes Metals has expanded its Albor copper-gold target at the Filo Sur project in Argentina and Chile, according to Mining.com. The company said it is building on earlier results with new drilling in the Vicuña district along the Argentina-Chile border.
In hole FS_DDH_016, Mogotes reported 180 metres from 108 metres depth grading 0.51% copper and 0.37 gram gold per tonne, plus 2.8 grams silver and 119 ppm molybdenum. It also cited an interval of 9 metres from 276 metres downhole with 1.32% copper, 1.34 grams gold, 7.5 grams silver and 105 ppm molybdenum.
Mogotes said Filo Sur lies at the southern limit of Filo del Sol, a polymetallic joint venture involving BHP and Lundin Mining, and that the belt also hosts other copper-gold projects including those at Lunahuasi and Los Helados. The company began exploration work on the 100-square-kilometre property in 2022 and has been advancing multiple projects.
The company plans to drill about 7,000 metres this year at Filo Sur, and it said additional assay results from other targets are pending. Mogotes also noted that the mineralization limits in hole 016 have not been fully defined, including remaining untested areas along the Macho Muerto Fault Zone and at depth.
