Gale Associates to lead Mansfield airport runway rehabilitation
The project is expected to take three months, with fixed-wing operations temporarily suspended while Boston MedFlight continues emergency flights.
Gale Associates, Inc. will provide engineering design and construction administration for the rehabilitation of the primary airfield infrastructure at Mansfield Municipal Airport in Mansfield, Massachusetts, according to ConnectCRE.
The work will mark the first reconstruction of the airport’s primary runway since 1993, including reconstruction of Runway 14-32, Taxiway A, and connecting stub taxiways, plus Taxiways B, C, and D edge lighting to align with current Federal Aviation Administration pavement design standards.
Additional scope includes upgrades to the airport’s drainage system, installation of new airfield electrical infrastructure, guidance signs, runway and taxiway lighting, navigational aids, a new electrical vault, pavement markings, and site restoration.
Fixed-wing operations will be temporarily suspended during construction, which is expected to last three months, while Boston MedFlight will continue operating from the airport to maintain emergency medical transport services for communities across Southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Gale Associates said.
