Bitcoin ETFs post back-to-back inflow weeks after eight straight outflows

For the week ending July 17, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs added $75.7 million in net inflows, following $197.4 million the prior week.

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs returned to net inflows for the week ending July 17, after eight straight weeks of outflows that together drained more than $8.2 billion, according to Decrypt, citing SoSoValue data. The 13 U.S. spot Bitcoin funds recorded $75.7 million in net inflows for the latest week, extending the recovery to two consecutive green weeks after $197.4 million of net inflows in the prior week. The two-week total of $273.1 million covers only a small portion of the withdrawals seen between mid-May and early July. Decrypt noted that June 2026 was the worst month on record for Bitcoin ETF products since their January 2024 launch, with about $4.5 billion exiting in that period. Even during the latest green week, there was sharp volatility, including a $424.7 million outflow on a single day Monday, before investors reversed course over the following four days and closed the week higher.

According to Decrypt, Bloomberg Intelligence ETF analyst Eric Balchunas outlined a comparison framework using gold ETFs as a possible roadmap, arguing both bitcoin and gold function as non-yielding stores of value that do not pay dividends. The outlet also said Bitcoin ETFs hold bitcoin on investors’ behalf, eliminating the need for individual wallet management.
