David C. Lockwood III named SIOR CEO to steer industrial and office shift

Lockwood, a member since 1990 and Colliers executive for 39 years, plans to keep SIOR focused on member resources while adapting to office hybrid work.

The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors has appointed David C. Lockwood III as its CEO, naming a long time member to lead the organization as commercial real estate cycles through rapid change, according to Bisnow.

Lockwood has been part of SIOR since 1990 and most recently served as global president in 2024. His career before SIOR leadership includes executive vice president and chief operating officer roles at Colliers in South Carolina, and he also spent eight years as a commissioner on the South Carolina Real Estate Commission, Bisnow reported.

In the interview, Lockwood said SIOR aims to preserve its focus on excellence and integrity while expanding resources and opportunities for members. He also described a new norm for office tenants as hybrid work schedules become more common.

Lockwood said employees who do come into offices now expect high amenitized space for collaboration, productivity, and engagement, with building features intended to draw people back compared with staying remote. He also said SIOR plans to move forward as an innovative and globally connected organization anchored in the relationships among members.
