Aon appoints Michael Mahoney as Northeast Region Leader and US co-head
Mahoney’s dual appointment begins August 1, 2026, and will include leadership of a major US market and participation in Aon’s Executive Committee.
Aon has appointed Michael Mahoney to dual roles as Northeast Region Leader and Co-Head of the US, effective August 1, 2026. In the new structure, he will serve on Aon’s Executive Committee while retaining his seat on the North America Executive Committee.
In his new positions, Mahoney will lead one of Aon’s US markets described as among the broker’s most dynamic and strategically important, with a mandate to drive growth and deliver value for clients. The company said he will help shape the strategic direction of its largest regional market and partner across Risk Capital and Human Capital as part of Aon’s United strategy.
Mahoney previously served as Aon’s Chief Commercial Officer for the US, where he worked to strengthen commercial discipline and accelerate growth across commercial risk, health, wealth, and talent. Aon also said he is supporting the process to appoint a new leader for his prior role and will remain in it until the process is completed.
Aon noted that Mahoney brings nearly three decades of industry experience, including 15 years at the broker in roles spanning sales, client leadership, commercial strategy, and regional management. The company’s North America CEO, Anne Corona, said Mahoney combines business acumen with a commitment to clients and colleagues, and Mahoney said he is excited to build on the company’s existing momentum.
