Commercial crude oil inventories rise by 2.0 million barrels
Inventories excluding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve totaled 411.7 million barrels for the week ending July 17, 2026, still 6% below the 2021 to 2025 average.
The US Energy Information Administration reported that commercial crude oil inventories, excluding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, rose by 2.0 million barrels for the week ending July 17, 2026.
Total commercial crude inventories reached 411.7 million barrels, which remains 6% below the previous five-year average for 2021 to 2025.
The EIA also said gasoline inventories increased by 0.8 million barrels and distillate inventories increased by 1.4 million barrels, with both still below their respective five-year averages.
Separately, the agency reported propane inventories moved higher, while remaining under its five-year benchmark, according to the weekly inventory data.
