Dogecoin and ether drop as crypto consolidates ahead of the Fed
Dogecoin slid 4.5% and ether fell 2.5%, while bitcoin was down 0.6% to around $65,400, after a strong prior week.
Dogecoin and ether led a modest pullback in major cryptocurrencies on Friday as investors digested recent tech earnings and crypto consolidated after a strong run, according to CoinDesk data.
Dogecoin fell 4.5% and ether dropped 2.5%. XRP and Solana each slipped about 2.5%, while bitcoin held up better, down 0.6% to around $65,400.
CoinDesk reports the retreat was broad but shallow, with most majors still higher on the week. Bitcoin is up 3.0% over seven days and ether is up 1.8%, while Hyperliquid is the exception, down 3.5%.
CoinDesk said there was no single catalyst behind the Friday move, describing it more as a pause after the run-up than a reversal, with markets looking ahead to next week’s Fed meeting.
