Ren Zhengfei backs Huawei Tau Scaling Law to counter US sanctions
Ren Zhengfei said the new chip-design principle is Huawei’s “only path forward” after the company described US sanctions as a siege.
Huawei Technologies founder Ren Zhengfei has publicly endorsed the company’s Tau Scaling Law, presenting the chip-design principle as a necessity for the firm to keep operating under tightening US sanctions, according to coverage by SCMP Economy.
Ren, 81, said in internal remarks posted on Huawei’s Xinsheng Community intranet, as reported by Science and Technology Daily, that Huawei’s survival hinges on the architecture and that the effort involved six years of continuous iteration by tens of thousands of employees.
The endorsement is Ren’s first public support for Tau Scaling since it was unveiled in May by He Tingbo, president of Huawei’s semiconductor arm HiSilicon.
Ren’s comments also appear as an introduction to a new Huawei management-philosophy book written by company consultant Tian Tao, the outlet said.
