Hong Kong plans larger homes and more recreation in Northern Metropolis
Hong Kong’s finance chief said the border mega township is expected to become a new engine for the territory’s future economic development.
Residents of Hong Kong’s Northern Metropolis, a future mega township near the border with Shenzhen, can expect bigger living spaces and improved access to recreational areas, according to Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po.
In a weekly blog post published Sunday, Chan said the government aims to make the border town suitable for living, working, studying, and leisure as part of a broader push to develop Hong Kong as a liveable city.
Chan also said the Northern Metropolis is expected to become a new engine for Hong Kong’s future economic development, and that the plan is intended to gradually enhance residents’ living and spatial environment.
