Tencent trims Kuaishou stake as it shifts venture bets to AI
The move comes days after Tencent backed a US$3 billion round for Kuaishou’s AI video unit, Kling AI.
Tencent Holdings is reallocating its venture capital bets away from legacy internet assets and toward China’s most visible artificial intelligence champions, according to SCMP Economy.
The report says Tencent’s AI strategy has accelerated, even as its broader portfolio spans mobile gaming, e-commerce, and consumer goods globally.
SCMP Economy notes that earlier this month Tencent trimmed its long-held stake in Kuaishou Technology shortly after backing a US$3 billion round for Kuaishou’s AI video unit, Kling AI.
