Morgan Stanley launches ether and solana exchange-traded products on NYSE Arca
The new funds charge a 0.14% expense ratio and plan to pass through staking rewards to investors, following Morgan Stanley’s spot bitcoin ETF launch.
CoinDesk reports Morgan Stanley has added exchange-traded products tied to ether and solana, extending its digital asset lineup beyond bitcoin. The firm’s new products, the Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (MSSE) and Morgan Stanley Solana Trust (MSOL), are set to begin trading on NYSE Arca.
The funds track CoinDesk benchmark indexes, specifically the CoinDesk Ether Benchmark 4PM NY Settlement Rate for MSSE and the CoinDesk Solana Benchmark 4PM NY Settlement Rate for MSOL. The structure is designed to give investors exposure to the two cryptocurrencies without requiring direct token holdings.
Morgan Stanley says the products charge a 0.14% expense ratio, described as the lowest on the market, and will stake a portion of their ether or solana holdings with staking rewards passed through to investors. The firm also highlighted its distribution footprint, citing its 16,000 financial advisors and E*TRADE platform.
The launch arrives after Morgan Stanley introduced a spot bitcoin fund, the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (MSBT), which CoinDesk says gathered more than $381 million in assets under management through July 16. CoinDesk also notes broader industry competition as large asset managers continue expanding crypto offerings in response to investor demand.
