Lenovo Capital boosts AI bets with focus on robotics and AI agents

Lenovo Capital says AI-related businesses are nearly one-third of its roughly 300 portfolio holdings.

The venture capital arm of Lenovo Group is expanding its artificial intelligence strategy beyond foundational models, with a renewed emphasis on robotics, computing infrastructure, and AI agents, according to a senior executive cited by the South China Morning Post.

Lenovo Capital chief investment officer and senior partner Song Chunyu said the unit has made long-term investments in more than 100 AI companies across the value chain, ranging from chips and hardware infrastructure to models and applications.

Song described Lenovo Capital’s approach as a “sniper” philosophy, aimed at backing top performers in key frontier technology sectors rather than investing broadly across the market.

He also said AI-related businesses now account for nearly one-third of Lenovo Capital’s roughly 300 portfolio holdings, reflecting the unit’s growing tilt toward AI for the next industrial cycle.
