SM Energy expands lease at Denver’s Wells Fargo Center by about 50K SF
The oil and gas company now takes about 124K SF across five floors, and the move marks its second expansion at 1700 Lincoln St. in 11 months.
SM Energy is expanding its lease at Denver’s Wells Fargo Center, adding approximately 50,000 square feet, according to Bisnow. The company now occupies five floors totaling about 124,000 square feet at 1700 Lincoln St., a local nickname for the 52-story tower referenced as the “Cash Register Building,” based on CBRE’s information.
Bisnow reported this is SM Energy’s second expansion at the skyscraper in 11 months. The company added 14,000 square feet last August to accommodate more employees after it acquired XCL Resources LLC for more than $2.5B.
The latest expansion follows SM Energy’s all-stock merger with Denver oil producer Civitas Resources, which closed in late January. CBRE said the building was identified as the preferred consolidation location, and the office tower is cited as 67% occupied, while Denver’s office market continues to recover from the pandemic.
