CIAB to acquire PriSim insurance training programs Broker Smackdown
The multi-year transition keeps PriSim supporting existing users through 2027 for Broker Smackdown and through 2029 for the Insurance Challenge.
The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB) has agreed to acquire PriSim Business War Games' insurance industry training program suite, bringing two long-running simulation-based leadership programs into The Council's professional development offerings, according to Insurance Business.
The acquisition covers the brokerage community program known as Broker Smackdown and, more broadly across commercial insurance, the Insurance Challenge. The deal begins a multi-year transition from PriSim to The Council, intended to provide a seamless experience for Council members and PriSim's current clients and carrier partners.
PriSim will continue supporting existing clients, running Broker Smackdown through 2027 and the Insurance Challenge through 2029. Broker Smackdown is an in-person competition where participants run a brokerage firm within a computer-simulated insurance market, while the Insurance Challenge expands the format to let participants manage both a carrier and a brokerage organization across the insurance value chain, from product development through distribution.
Insurance Business said more than 2,300 Council members and 2,100 carrier participants have completed the two programs to date. The Council CEO Joel Wood described Broker Smackdown as widely regarded as the industry gold standard for leadership training, and said retention, career-pathing, and succession planning are key priorities for member firms.
