Ether and XRP trade flat as semiconductor jitters ease
Bitcoin was around $64,100 and ether near $1,905 on Thursday, with volumes totaling about $28 billion in BTC and $10 billion in ETH despite softer moves across major altcoins.
CoinDesk reported that major cryptocurrencies were little changed on Thursday as an early easing in Asia semiconductor selling helped stabilize broader risk sentiment. Ether traded around $1,905 and bitcoin near $64,100, both flat on the day, while XRP was at $1.07, solana at $74, BNB at $572, and TRON around 33 cents.
The report linked the calmer day in crypto to the semiconductor selloff that has been driving markets for about two weeks, noting it showed its first real sign of easing. It said crypto’s weekly pattern points more to thinning liquidity than a direct reaction to equity stress, with BNB the only major coin showing a small weekly gain.
CoinDesk also highlighted trading activity, saying volumes were modest with about $28 billion changing hands in bitcoin and $10 billion in ether. It added that the weekly declines across major alts were uneven, with HYPE down 8% over seven sessions, XRP down 6%, and solana down 5%.
In equities, the outlet pointed to Samsung’s announcement that chip profit rose more than 250-fold, tied to AI memory shortages, and said the stock reaction was muted relative to the size of the profit gain. It contrasted Samsung’s shares moving about 2% with SK Hynix’s profit jumping 557% and its stock falling 17%, underscoring how investor expectations have become a key driver.
