Bitcoin enters final BIP-110 window as miner support sits at 0.89%
BIP-110 needs 1,109 of the 2,016 blocks, or 55%, to reach ordinary lock-in, otherwise its mandatory version-bit phase could start in August.
Bitcoin has entered the final ordinary 2,016-block window for BIP-110, with miner support at 0.89% as of July 25, according to CryptoSlate.
Under the proposal’s terms, BIP-110 requires 1,109 blocks, or 55%, for ordinary lock-in. If support remains below that threshold, the mandatory version-bit phase can begin in August.
CryptoSlate also said Jameson Lopp has framed subsequent work around Consensus Cleanup, covenants, and quantum preparation as Bitcoin’s next agenda, and that he opposes BIP-110 while co-authoring BIP-361, a draft post-quantum migration plan.
The Consensus Cleanup package combines four protocol repairs in BIP-54, including fixes aimed at the timewarp attack and other edge cases, plus limits intended to reduce worst-case validation costs and address a 64-byte transaction ambiguity. CryptoSlate added that BIP-54 specification work was completed in May and has been run on Bitcoin Inquisition’s experimental signet since February, with BIP-446’s OP_TEMPLATEHASH activated on July 27 at signet block 314,928.
