Swiss Re hires Dean Galligan to lead Life & Health reinsurance transactions
Galligan joins from Standard Life, where he served as Chief Capital Officer, and will focus on capital, risk transfer and strategic transaction solutions for clients.
Swiss Re has appointed Dean Galligan as Head of Transactions for Life & Health Reinsurance, a role focused on developing and delivering capital, risk transfer and strategic transaction solutions for clients, Reinsurance News reported.
The reinsurer said Galligan brings more than 25 years of industry experience across insurance, capital markets and asset management. His work has included partnering with financial institutions to deploy capital efficiently and create long-term value.
Galligan joined Swiss Re from Standard Life, where he most recently served as Chief Capital Officer and was a member of the Group Executive Committee with responsibility for group capital, balance sheet strategy, funding and liquidity. Before that, he held roles as a Senior Advisor to Standard Life, a Managing Director at Barclays Investment Bank, and spent 17 years at Goldman Sachs, becoming a Managing Director in 2008, according to Reinsurance News.
The outlet said his prior experience included advising insurers, reinsurers and other financial institutions globally on capital, funding, risk transfer and strategic transactions, including during the global financial crisis.
