Ukraine drone attacks damage nearly 43% of Russia refining capacity

Since the start of 2026, Ukrainian drones have hit Russian refineries at least 194 times, cutting the country’s operating capacity to nearly 57% of what it had before the strikes.

The outlet reports that Ukrainian drones have attacked Russian refineries at least 194 times since the start of 2026, driving cumulative damage to nearly 43% of Russia’s entire operating refinery capacity.

OilPrice links the refinery damage to a broader intensification of attacks that began earlier, including a deeper concentrated blitz that started in August 2025. The piece also notes that, alongside battlefield losses that it frames as unsustainable for recruitment, the pressure on key oil and gas infrastructure has added another constraint on Russia.
