Bharti Airtel Q1 profit rises as ARPU and data use climb
The carrier posted Q1FY27 revenue from operations of ₹58,539 crore, up 18.4% year over year, and said it added 14.9 million customers to reach 681 million across 15 countries.
Bharti Airtel reported stronger results for the June quarter, with consolidated net profit rising 37.3% year over year to ₹8,167 crore. The company said the sequential profit increase versus ₹7,325 crore in Q4FY26 was supported by customer additions and upgrades to higher priced plans, according to LiveMint Markets.
Revenue from operations increased 18.4% year over year to ₹58,539 crore, while sequentially it rose 5.7% to ₹55,383 crore. LiveMint Markets also highlighted that ARPU climbed to ₹264 from ₹250 a year earlier, driven by higher smartphone penetration, more data consumption, and continued customer upgrades to premium tiers.
Airtel’s India mobile business remained its largest revenue contributor, with segment revenue up 9.2% year over year to ₹29,929 crore. In Africa, revenue surged 45.4% year over year to ₹17,566 crore.
The company reported growth in smartphone data customers, rising 21.1 million year over year and 5 million sequentially, taking the share to 80% of its total mobile subscriber base. Mobile data consumption increased 36% year over year to 34.4 GB per customer per month, and Airtel added 14.9 million customers to reach 681 million across 15 countries, while expanding its network with the deployment of 1,579 towers and 14,540 mobile broadband base stations during the quarter.
