Dollar holds lower against euro as gold rises and US futures edge up

EUR/USD was last up 0.1% to 1.1545 while USD/JPY was down 0.1% to 157.55, as risk appetite steadied after a record-breaking Wall Street session.

Forexlive said the US-Iran situation continued to keep broader markets focused, though attention centered on an agreement between Iran and Oman regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz over the next 60 days.

Against that backdrop, the dollar was slightly weaker, with EUR/USD up 0.1% to 1.1545 and USD/JPY down 0.1% to 157.55, while the outlet noted the market remained on edge for USD/JPY after a joint intervention by the US and Japan.

Markets also weighed rates and commodities, with US 10-year yields down 1.6 bps to 4.61% and gold up 2.3% to $4,170, according to Forexlive.

Looking ahead, the outlet pointed to the US jobs report due on Friday and said today’s calendar includes the ADP data.
