Salad and Go files for Chapter 11, shutters all Arizona restaurants

The company said a July Cyclospora outbreak, though it was not implicated, hurt customer confidence and worsened its financial challenges.

Salad and Go, the made-to-order fast-casual chain known for salads, wraps, and breakfast items, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and told stakeholders that its Arizona locations will close immediately, according to ConnectCRE.

The company was founded in Gilbert and has more than 60 stores across Arizona, along with a large distribution center on 27th Avenue in Phoenix.

ConnectCRE reports that the co-founders exited the business in 2021 after selling it to an investment firm, and that the chain had been steadily closing locations before the latest shutdown announcements.

In a company release, Salad and Go said the distressed situation was compounded by a recent Cyclospora scare, noting the July outbreak was not linked to the chain and that it weakened confidence across the industry.

The Chapter 11 process, the company said, will provide a court-supervised framework to realize value from its assets and meet its obligations.
