Veritas Capital expands government-tech and infrastructure portfolio with Saber buy

The Texas-based Saber Power Services deal is Veritas's third acquisition announcement in under a week, following moves in federal contracting and industrial services.

Veritas Capital, the New York-based private equity firm focused on government-adjacent and regulated industries, agreed to acquire Texas-based Saber Power Services, marking its third acquisition announcement in less than a week, Yahoo Finance reports.

In the days around the Saber deal, Veritas also agreed to acquire federal contractor Steampunk and environmental consultancy Trinity Consultants, and it submitted a 914 pence-per-share proposal for London-listed Bodycote that values the industrial services company at about £1.56 billion, or $2.1 billion.

The Bodycote bid sets up a takeover contest with CVC Capital Partners, which proposed 915 pence per share, and both bidders face a Sept. 2 deadline.

Veritas’s recent deal pace comes as private equity activity has weakened overall, with US buyout deal value down 37.5% in Q2 and down 23.9% year-over-year, according to PitchBook data cited by Yahoo Finance, while Veritas points to government-backed demand in areas such as energy generation and defense. The article notes the US defense budget was $1.05 trillion in fiscal year 2026, with an expected path toward $1.5 trillion in fiscal year 2027, pending congressional approval, and describes outreach to buyout firms in connection with a proposed $150 billion Army infrastructure overhaul.
