Bristol Myers Squibb to invest $2.3B in Houston pharma campus
The modular, multi-modal 600,000 SF project is expected to create nearly 500 skilled jobs in northeast Houston.
Bristol Myers Squibb will invest $2.3 billion to build a 600,000-square-foot manufacturing campus at Northeast Houston’s Generation Park, the company announced Monday.
The new site is expected to create nearly 500 skilled jobs, and it will be designed as modular and multi-modal to allow flexibility to grow and reconfigure as future pipelines and commercial needs evolve, according to Bisnow.
BMS selected Texas and Generation Park after evaluating competitive markets in the central and eastern U.S., citing factors including the local life sciences workforce, available incentives, proximity to utilities and transportation infrastructure, and a business climate supportive of long-term growth.
Bisnow noted the move comes nearly a year after Eli Lilly said it would invest $6.5 billion in a synthetic medicine active pharmaceutical product facility at the same 4,300-acre master-planned district, part of BMS’s planned five-year $40 billion investment in U.S. R and D, technology, and domestic manufacturing.
