Lincoln Financial CFO Chris Neczypor exits as interim takes over

Adam Cohen, previously chief accounting officer, becomes interim CFO immediately, and Lincoln is also winding through a transformation while supporting capital actions.

Lincoln Financial said Chris Neczypor, its executive vice president and chief financial officer, has left the Radnor, Pennsylvania-based insurer to pursue a role outside the insurance industry. Neczypor will remain with the company through the end of August to help with the transition, as Lincoln launches a search for a permanent CFO replacement with both internal and external candidates.

Lincoln has named Adam Cohen as interim CFO effective immediately. Cohen has served as chief accounting officer since 2022 and took on treasury responsibilities in 2024, and he previously was CFO of Archwell and spent 13 years at EY in insurance audit and advisory roles.

The leadership change adds to what Insurance Business described as a broader run of senior exits in 2026. The company said Brian Kroll, executive vice president and president of retail life and annuity solutions, retired in June alongside chief risk officer Andy Rallis, and Lincoln created dedicated president roles for life and annuity units reporting directly to CEO Ellen Cooper.

Lincoln also tied the transition to ongoing capital and business moves. The insurer said it has recorded eight consecutive quarters of adjusted operating income growth, with life insurance sales rising 79% year over year and group protection delivering a 10.4% operating margin, and it wrapped a $5.8 billion legacy life reserve reinsurance deal with Talcott Financial Group in July as part of reducing capital tied to long-duration liabilities. Lincoln’s board declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.45 per share, payable November 2 to shareholders of record October 12.
