RetailFirst moves workers comp MGA duties from Summit to ISC in 2026

The transition begins in Q3 2026, with Summit continuing to underwrite policies through expiration and managing related claims for three years after the handoff.

RetailFirst Insurance Group is changing the managing general agency (MGA) arrangement for its workers’ compensation business, shifting the relationship from Summit to Integrated Specialty Coverages (ISC) beginning in the third quarter of 2026, Coverager reports. RetailFirst and BusinessFirst Insurance Company said the decision to end the Summit relationship was mutual. Summit, a member of Great American Insurance Group, will continue serving as MGA during the transition, and policies Summit underwrote for RetailFirst and BusinessFirst will remain with Summit through expiration. Summit will also manage claims tied to those policies for three years after the transition period ends. The change does not affect the business Summit manages for its affiliated carriers, including Bridgefield Casualty, Bridgefield Employers, and Bridgefield Indemnity. RetailFirst and BusinessFirst provide workers’ compensation insurance to more than 11,500 businesses across Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, and both carriers hold an A- financial strength rating from AM Best.

Independent agents can now use Summit’s WriteNow Online Quoting System to submit quotes for Delaware and Pennsylvania policies. ISC will take over MGA responsibilities for the two carriers during Q3, and Summit said it will continue to operate as MGA for the transition period while maintaining underwriting and claims coverage described above.
