Amynta Group to acquire agribusiness MGU in Virginia
The deal, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, is subject to regulatory approval and centers on Southern States Underwriters' exclusive reciprocal distribution arrangement.
Amynta Group has agreed to acquire Southern States Underwriters and SSC Insurance Agency, the insurance operations of Southern States Cooperative, Inc., covering an agribusiness-focused managing general underwriter based in Richmond, Virginia.
Southern States Underwriters has specialized in commercial property and casualty insurance for the agricultural supply chain since 1953, serving suppliers, distributors, and service providers. The business also serves as attorney-in-fact and exclusive distribution partner for the Southern States Insurance Exchange, a reciprocal insurer dedicated to the agribusiness market, according to Insurance Business.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approval.
Amynta said continuity will be supported by retaining John Madden as president after the acquisition. Insurance Business noted brokers should specifically track whether underwriting guidelines and market access terms tied to the reciprocal structure and exclusive arrangement remain unchanged after closing.
