The Hartford adds ex-Fannie Mae CEO Priscilla Almodovar to its board
Almodovar will sit on the insurer’s finance, investment and risk management committee and its audit committee starting September 1.
The Hartford elected Priscilla Almodovar, former president and CEO of Fannie Mae, to its board of directors, effective September 1, according to Insurance Business.
Almodovar will serve on the finance, investment and risk management committee as well as the audit committee. Christopher Swift, chairman and CEO of The Hartford, said her experience leading large organizations and managing transformation efforts will add perspective as the carrier executes its strategy.
The outlet noted that Almodovar previously led Fannie Mae, which supports about $4.1 trillion in mortgages and employs more than 10,000 people, and that she advanced a transformation focused on financial performance, technology modernization and risk management.
Insurance Business also said The Hartford has been moving on major deals, including an agreement reached in early August to acquire Equitable’s employee benefits business for about $500 million in premium, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026 subject to regulatory approvals, and a plan to sell Hartford Funds to Wellington Management valued at up to $1.9 billion, expected to close in the first quarter of 2027. The Hartford also named former AssuredPartners CEO Randy Larsen to its board in July.
