Greenberg Traurig adds real estate shareholder Brian Helweil in New York
The hire expands the firm’s global real estate practice, with Helweil focusing on commercial office and retail leasing as well as acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and joint ventures.
New York real estate attorney Brian Helweil has joined law firm Greenberg Traurig as a shareholder in the firm’s global real estate practice, according to a Tuesday announcement reported by Commercial Observer.
Helweil will work from the firm’s New York office and bring experience representing both landlords and tenants, with a practice centered on commercial office and retail leasing, plus acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and joint ventures across New York and the U.S.
Greenberg Traurig’s executive chairman Richard A. Rosenbaum said the move strengthens the firm’s depth in the New York leasing market and supports a strategic priority to build more critical mass in New York City’s office leasing sector, Commercial Observer reported.
Before joining Greenberg Traurig, Helweil spent roughly three years at Loeb & Loeb as a partner and previously worked as an associate at Fried Frank, the announcement said. The release also cited his work on large headquarters leases, including a 1 million-plus-square-foot lease for a multinational media and entertainment company.
