Future Science Prize returns to Hong Kong for fourth straight year
This year’s Future Science Prize recognizes work spanning molecular mechanisms, porous materials, and arithmetic geometry, with the event drawing international attention, organizers said.
Three mainland Chinese scientists are the latest winners of the Future Science Prize, China's first privately funded award recognizing scientific achievement, as the prize event returns to Hong Kong for a fourth consecutive year, according to the organiser.
The 2026 prize is being held in Hong Kong for the 11th year of the award, and the organisers said that multi year hosting has made it a major international scientific event, attracting attention from the global research community.
Hong Kong Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong said the prize has become widely watched among international scientists due to its Hong Kong run, while programme committee co chair Vivian Yam Wing wah highlighted the broader significance of the city hosting the ceremony repeatedly.
The prize winners this year were recognized for breakthroughs in molecular mechanisms, porous materials and arithmetic geometry, underscoring the breadth of research covered by the award.
