Indian stocks finish mixed amid US-Iran deal uncertainty and lower oil
The Sensex rose 0.2% while the Nifty fell 0.2%, as Brent slipped about 2% toward $87 a barrel and the rupee weakened to 95.44 per dollar.
Indian shares closed mixed on Thursday, with rangebound trading persisting for a fourth straight session as uncertainty around a potential US-Iran deal and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz kept investors cautious, according to LiveMint Markets.
The Sensex ended up 114 points, or 0.15%, at 78,079.96, while the Nifty 50 closed down 40 points, or 0.16%, at 24,395.85.
Among broader segments, the Nifty Midcap 100 gained 0.15%, and the Smallcap 100 edged up 0.27%, as crude prices declined.
Brent benchmark crude fell 2% to trade near $87 per barrel on speculation that demand could stay weak amid slowing global economic growth, while the Indian rupee slipped 11 paise to close at 95.44 per dollar.
