Zillow cuts 500 jobs in restructuring, offering severance up to 21 weeks

Zillow said the restructuring is meant to operate more efficiently, and its WARN filing shows 91 affected roles in Washington state.

Zillow laid off more than 500 employees, about 7% of its workforce, in a company-wide restructuring effort, HousingWire reports. The company described the changes as an organizational restructuring focused on helping it operate more efficiently while supporting ongoing investments in the business.

In HR documentation reviewed by HousingWire, impacted employees were placed on paid administrative leave with base pay plus, if applicable, target incentive pay and benefits, through a set termination date. The email also said Zillow has the right to recall employees back to work during their administrative leave period.

The company outlined severance terms that can extend up to 21 weeks. The basic package includes three weeks of weekly base pay, plus two additional weeks of weekly base pay for each full year of service, up to a maximum of 21 weeks, HousingWire reports.

For employees who are primary insurance benefits subscribers, Zillow will provide a lump sum equal to the cost of six months of COBRA coverage at 2026 rates for themselves and any eligible dependents. HousingWire also verified Washington State WARN data indicating 91 Washington-based roles were affected, including senior and director positions.
