15 Nifty 500 stocks have doubled investor gains since Independence Day

While the Nifty 50 fell about 2% over the past year, the Nifty 500 rose about 3%, and 15 constituents gained more than 100%.

Indian equities have been mixed since Independence Day, with the Nifty 50 down about 2% over the past year, as concerns tied to US tariffs, geopolitical risk, weak earnings, and foreign capital outflows pressured sentiment, LiveMint Markets reports.

At the same time, the broader Nifty 500 index has outperformed, rising about 3% in the same period. Capitalmarket data cited by the outlet show that 15 Nifty 500 components have at least doubled investor money since Independence Day.

The article highlights that 15 stocks in the Nifty 500 jumped more than 100% over the period, while 50 index constituents rose more than 50%. Among the gainers, Ather Energy, Aditya Infotech, and HFCL each surged over 200%.

On the downside, the worst performers in the Nifty 500 included Cohance Life, KPIT Tech, Reliance Power, Inox Wind, CE Info System, and Brainbees Solutions, which fell between 40% and 50%. LiveMint Markets attributes the Nifty’s weakness to a broader set of headwinds including elevated crude oil prices, tariff-related uncertainty, risk aversion tied to gold, and pressure on Indian IT stocks from the global AI disruption narrative.
