Paul Tudor Jones firm increases iShares Bitcoin ETF shares, cuts calls
In its June 30 SEC filing, Tudor Investment reported 688,529 direct IBIT shares, up from 579,083 at March 31, while call-equivalent quantity fell 85.2%.
Tudor Investment, the firm associated with Paul Tudor Jones, increased its reported direct holdings in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) while reducing its call-equivalent exposure in an SEC 13F snapshot for June 30, according to CryptoSlate.
The latest filing showed 688,529 direct IBIT shares, an increase of 109,446 shares from 579,083 in the prior quarter’s table. CryptoSlate also noted that the reported call-equivalent quantity declined 85.2%, while the put-equivalent quantity moved only slightly, edging down to about 715,000 from roughly 725,000.
CryptoSlate said the disclosure uses underlying-security values rather than option premiums or fair values, as 13F option rows are reported in terms of the ETF share equivalents. It added that the “put-equivalent” line was about 4.8 times the “call-equivalent” line at June 30, versus about 1.4 times at March 31.
CryptoSlate cautioned that the filings do not fully resolve Tudor Investment’s strategy, since strike prices, expiration dates, premiums, and position purpose are not included, and SEC instructions exclude written options and short equity positions from the reported rows. The submission reflects holdings as of June 30, so transactions after that date are not captured.
