DAP votes to stay in Malaysia government, extending Anwar’s stability

Nearly 90.0% of over 2,200 DAP delegates backed staying in Putrajaya, helping keep the Pakatan Harapan administration in place until early 2028.

Democratic Action Party delegates in Malaysia voted on Sunday to remain in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s governing alliance, a decision analysts say stabilizes Anwar’s administration after months of uncertainty over whether the biggest coalition party would stay in cabinet.

According to SCMP Economy, nearly 90.0% of more than 2,200 DAP delegates supported keeping party leaders in government, giving Anwar breathing room as the administration is set to run until early 2028.

SCMP Economy also reported that the vote increases pressure on DAP to demonstrate it can still influence policy, not just provide coalition support, warning the party could see further erosion of credibility if it does not push through concrete reforms before the next general election.
