HKU and CityU place in 2026 world university top 100
ShanghaiRanking Consultancy placed HKU at 62nd and City University of Hong Kong at 95th, citing metrics such as Nobel and Fields Medal wins and papers published in Nature and Science.
Two Hong Kong universities secured positions in the top 100 of the Academic Ranking of World Universities, released by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, according to SCMP Economy.
The University of Hong Kong rose to 62nd from 67th last year, while City University of Hong Kong climbed to 95th from 99th.
For the 2026 ranking, ShanghaiRanking Consultancy reviewed 2,500 institutions using third party data before selecting the top 1,000.
The methodology considers indicators including the number of alumni and staff who have won Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, along with research output measured by papers published in Nature and Science.
