Alphabet unveils Gemini 3.7 Flash as free cash flow turns negative

Alphabet launched Gemini 3.7 Flash on Aug. 13, as the company also reported its first negative free cash flow quarter and closed a $25 billion bond sale.

Alphabet introduced Gemini 3.7 Flash on Aug. 13, positioning the new model for coding and automated business tasks, including planning work, using software tools, and completing multi step workflows with less human oversight, according to Yahoo Finance.

The article says Google did not provide a timeline for when its flagship Gemini 3.5 Pro will arrive, even as it has accelerated iteration, with Gemini 3.7 Flash released three weeks after Gemini 3.6 Flash.

To attract developers, Google priced Gemini 3.7 Flash at 75 cents per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens through the end of the year, about half the original cost of Gemini 3.6 Flash, and the model is rolling out immediately to Gemini Spark in more than 160 countries.

Yahoo Finance also ties the launch to Alphabet's financing and spending mix, noting the company posted its first ever negative free cash flow quarter, raised about $56 billion in debt plus roughly $50 billion from stock sales in the first half, and closed a $25 billion, ten tranch bond sale.
