Citi plans to launch Bitcoin custody for institutions on Custody+
Citi says its Custody+ will let institutions manage traditional assets and bitcoin within one framework, with continuous near-instant visibility across key servicing and execution functions.
Citi plans to debut a new institutional Bitcoin custody service later this year as part of its Custody+ platform, according to Bitcoin Magazine.
The bank said Custody+ is designed to allow institutional investors to custody traditional assets and bitcoin within one framework, rather than relying on separate systems. Citi also highlighted continuous, near-instant visibility and execution across servicing, settlement, foreign exchange, cash, and data.
Citi positioned the service as part of a broader push in digital asset infrastructure, saying it runs parallel to its blockchain offerings including Citi Token Services for real-time cross-border payments using tokenized deposits.
Bitcoin Magazine also noted that Citi has been working with other major banks to explore issuing a stablecoin product, and pointed to the Clarity Act as current pro-crypto legislation that lawmakers are set to vote on in September.
