Monzo restores card payments and transfers after technical issue

The British digital bank had enabled a stand-in backup service so some users could still transact, but not all customers reported it working as expected.

Monzo said a technical problem that temporarily prevented users from making card payments or bank transfers has been resolved, with the company stating all services were now back up and running, according to BBC Business.

During the outage, Monzo activated a stand-in backup service that was intended to let customers continue making transactions, including card payments, cash withdrawals, and sending and receiving bank transfers.

Some users reported that the stand-in option was not functioning as promised, with at least one account saying they were still unable to make bank transfers.

Monzo, founded in 2015 as a mobile-first bank without physical branches, said it has more than 16 million personal and business customers worldwide.
