Zillow cuts 500-plus jobs in early August reorganization
The layoffs, which HousingWire reports impacted about 7% of staff, included Zillow executive Sara Bonert, who said she was the most tenured employee affected.
Zillow laid off more than 500 employees in an early August workforce reduction, a move the company described as part of an organizational restructuring focused on efficiency, according to HousingWire.
HousingWire reports that Sara Bonert, a Zillow executive who joined the company in 2006, said she was among those affected. In an emailed statement shared with HousingWire, Bonert said she was the most tenured employee impacted by the cuts and clarified that she was part of the 500-plus person layoff.
Bonert, who worked across roles including director of broker services and vice president of industry engagement, pointed to her long tenure shaping Zillow’s relationships with the real estate industry, including early efforts to get listings on the site and build listing syndication strategy.
HousingWire reports that Zillow’s cuts represented about 7% of its workforce company-wide, and the company cited restructuring and efficiency as the rationale for the reductions.
