Gallagher adviser ties employee benefits approach to client trust
Mitch Davis, an employee benefits advisor at Gallagher, joined after an invitation in college and started full-time in 2018, later joining the firm in 2019.
Mitch Davis, an employee benefits advisor at Gallagher, traces his path into group benefits to a foster-care upbringing and a mentor who urged him to consider insurance, even though he initially had no plan to join the industry, Insurance Business reports. Davis grew up in Carmel, Indiana, where between age five and his move to Indiana University in Bloomington, his household hosted around 50 to 60 foster children, an experience he said gave him a close-up view of vulnerability, hardship, and resilience that shaped his interest in mission-driven work.
According to Insurance Business, Davis argues the employee benefits industry has long relied on what he calls an old “quoting playbook,” where brokers return with a few pricing options and clients choose without enough context, narrative, or understanding, driving confusion and a lack of trust. To counter that, Davis says he starts by gathering input from CFOs, HR leaders, and operations teams rather than leading with data requests, positioning employee benefits as a talent attraction and retention tool rather than a simple cost exercise.
